Young Craig Hansen is tormented by both bullies at the playground and his abusive father at home. Craig’s bedroom is the only place he feels safe. There, Craig spends hours reading his Azoth the Avenger comic books and perfecting models of his comic book heroes. One afternoon, Craig uses a special code to bring his model of Azoth to life. Azoth quickly tries to adapt to life in the strange new environment and helps Craig fight off the bullies from the playground. Azoth soon realizes that Craig and his mother are in danger if Craig’s father is not stopped as well. Azoth’s initial attempt at fighting Craig’s father fails, leaving the seemingly invincible hero bruised and battered. Azoth insists that this is a battle that Craig must wage alone. Taking Azoth’s advice, Craig sends the comic book hero back to his own world, determined to take a stand against his abusive father. As Craig watches his father berate his mother yet again, Craig confronts him and uses the code to send his father into the pages of the comic book.
