Review by Shazam (*****spoilers herein*****)

The season premiere of Smallville season 8 which aired on Thursday the 18th was really good. It is probably one of the best season premieres I have seen yet; I really enjoyed it! Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow) is now a regular cast member on the show and I am so excited about that addition to the regular cast!  He made a big impact in season seven. Also two other people are now in the regular cast: Cassidy Freeman (Tess Mercer) and Sam Witwer (Davis Bloome). However, Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang), Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor), and John Glover (Lionel Luthor), will either not return at all or will now be only recurring characters. Leaving off from last season, Lex tried to control Clark with an item from the group Veritas, to be used at the Fortress. At the end of the episode, the Fortress crumbles down on both of them and it is destroyed along with Jor-El’s essence. In the season premiere, Clark has now lost his abilities once again and Lex is now missing. Clark ends up in camp forced to work against his will, though Oliver Queen shows up to rescue him. Meanwhile, a temporary CEO and head of LexCorp has been assigned. Her name is Tess Mercer and one of her goals is to find the missing Lex Luthor. And you will find that Tess can be almost as cold and possibly as ruthless as Lex. Chloe has been kidnapped by a group and has exhibited some news abilities, but has lost her healing ability. John Jones/Martian Manhunter shows up to help Clark regain his abilities. Rating for this show (scale 1-10): 9.75
