Friday night and I hired a baby-sitter for our two girls and my significant other and I dashed off to the take in Sex in the City, The Movie. Our movie time was at 7:30 so being that we always arrive early, and good thing that we did - we were seated by 7:00 P.M. and I must say that I was surrounded by woman - lots of 'em. Even though this movie is in English, my soul mate is still learning my native tongue (language - I was referring to language), I had no doubt that she would understand most of this movie. There is very little that I had to whisper to her during this movie and for that, I was impressed (I am still at a loss as to why she can not take down even the simplest of messages) and it made our night out that much more fun. I am a casual fan of this show and my wife is a solid fan, one that did not miss a single episode - we own the entire series on DVD. The only series that we own on DVD. At the very least, we are both familiar with the show and we had hope that this movie would be a true heir to a wonderfully entertaining series. The movie runs two hours and twenty eight minutes and for the most part, Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda are true to form along with their significant others. The movie takes place three to four years after we lost saw our heroines on the small screen and we see the next step in their lives. This television show was terribly popular for its true to life portrayal of life in the city of New York based on relationships that this women had or had to endure! Real life was what this program was based on and in this movie, much to my surprise, the events seemed real and in the end, things just don't end as one would expect - at least for someone of my generation but true to life, I think, for someone of the age of these ladies. What the hell am I am saying? I am thirty nine and Carrie is forty! Hmmm. Anyway, the movie has emotional heart and does not, again, does not treat these people superficially - these four women are real and you can appreciate that the movie makers took the time to entertain us. Chick Flick? For the boneheads of the world, yes. For those of us of get our loves in our life, this movie is just a great time with our loves. For those looking for mindless action, come no further because you wouldn't understand it nor would you be able to appreciate it. Yeah or Nay? This is a definite Yeah!
