Sandra Bruckner Have
you ever thought what it would be like to have super powers?
Come on, you have. When I was a kid, I could be Superman, Batman, Roy Rogers and
The Lone Ranger. You can be
anything you wish to be through the power of your imagination -- one of the
greatest gifts of all. HEROES is really a combination of all these special superheroes and more. We are introduced to a number of regular people who are just discovering their special powers.
The
story opens in India with a genetics professor, Mohinder Suresh, triying to
find his missing father. Suresh
travels to New York City and discovers his father’s apartment.
There he begins to unravel his father's
research -- a secret theory
that there are people with special powers living among us.
A young dreamer, Pete Petrelli, tries to convince his politician brother,
Nathan, that he can fly. A high school cheerleader Claire, learns that she is
totally indestructible. A Las Vegas stripper, Niki, struggles to make ends meet
to support her young son, Micah, and discovers that her mirror image has a
secret. A fugitive from justice, Sylar, continues to baffle authorities who
twice have been unable to contain him. A gifted artist, Isaac, whose drug
addiction is destroying his life and relationship with his girlfriend, but he
can paint the future. A down-on-his-luck Los Angeles beat cop, Matt Parkman, can
hear people's thoughts, which puts him on the trail of an elusive serial killer.
In Japan, a young man, Hiro, develops a way to stop time through sheer will
power. Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world…
It is amazing that all of these people are very engaging and I’m sure you will find one that you want to follow from segment to segment. But you won’t want to miss anything – because everything is interconnected. This is one of those dramas that you need to pay attention to detail – but it is easy to pick up so you don’t feel cheated if you’ve missed a few episodes. Things fall into place fairly quickly and you just don’t want the hour to end.
Now that I’ve hopefully whetted your appetite, we can get into some of the episodes and catch up with what has transpired so far. Stay tuned! If you’d prefer to watch, go to http://www.nbc.com/heroes and watch the episodes on-line. Be sure to put aside some time – you won’t want to stop until you’re caught up with the current episode.
