STAR TREK: TO REIGN IN HELL
(The Exile of Khan Noonien Singh)

By James Farmer

I've just finished the latest volume in the Khan series by none other then Greg Cox, writer Extraordinaire.
If you've already read the first two volumes in this series, then you're aware of how Khan came to be and how he was stranded in space on the Botany Bay, which was later found by Captain Kirk and the original Enterprise crew, who then 'relocated' the Superhumans on Ceti Alpha V.
We've all seen STAR TREK II:  THE WRATH OF KHAN, and we all know that Khan was later reduced to mere molecules when the Genesis Device was activated, creating the Genesis Planet.
Well, this volume deals with the years of Khan's reign on Ceti Alpha V and what transpired while he was there.  It reveals how Ceti Alpha V was mistakenly taken as Ceti Alpha VI in the aforementioned movie. We also learn what happens to Marla McGivers, the Enterprise crewperson who sided with Khan and was exiled on the planet by her own Captain and crew mates.
What entails is a one of the very best Trek stories I had the pleasure to read in a long time.  The facts are place before you, in an acceptable manner and all you have to do is realize that this is what Khan ultimately wanted, a world where he would be the absolute ruler, and no one else. We learn of how he grew to love Marla and what her ultimate end was ordained to be and why he went to great lengths to remember her.
We learn of how tough life on Ceti Alpha V became after the world was completely changed by an act of 'nature', and what he did to ensure the survival of his followers.
We also see a 'prequel' for the movie at the end of the book.
This STAR TREK is HIGHLY recommended by me and, out of my rating system of 1 to 10, I just have to give this one the highest rating, a PERFECT 10!!

Greg Cox had totally outdone himself with this tome and I eagerly await his future endeavors of the Star Ship Enterprise and her crew. Buy the book, sit back in an easy chair and peruse at your leisure, you won't be disappointed one little bit.

As usual, STAR TREK:  TO REIGN IN HELL, is published by Pocket Books and is available in hard back edition for the retail price of $24 in the US and; $35 in Canada and in the UK 14.99 pounds sterling.
