Pickles! Popcorn! Cinema! Oh my! By Miss N The other night, I found out a secret. Buried in the suburban streets, among mini-malls and family parks, track housing and fast food joints, a movie theater glimmered like the promised land of Oz. I found that I had the choice of watching, several of this year's blockbuster movies for an astonishing, mouth dropping, buck fifty, a pop! A dollar and fifty cents bought me an average of two hours of entertainment. If AMC, Edwards, and Mann theatres were brothers, this was like the pretty cousin form the rancho, that doesn’t know much about city towns, but can cook a mean steak 500 different ways. Who knew that the city of La Mirada still keeps it real for us "legal tender deficient"? The prices of concessions remain the same, but at this point who cares. If you have five bucks, you still have money left over for some buttery yellow popcorn, or get this, a nice, green, cold, juicy pickle! It’s genius! The seating is a bit outdated, say, vintage, but nonetheless comfortable. A perfect place to get loaded in the parking lot and… Ok maybe getting loaded is not for everyone, but I happened to catch War of The Worlds and I needed all the alcohol I could get! So gentlemen, if you are avid listeners of Tom Lykus, ardent about the $40 date rule, Or a lady on a budget, this is the place for you. On the corner of Rosecrans and La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada Town Center.
(Editor's Note: The Theatre in question is the La Mirada Movie 7 at 15296 Rosecrans Ave, La Mirada, CA 90638 (714) 739-1010. Prices are advertised at $1.50 per showing. Please call for further information.)
