Comic Con 2007 - San Diego

The movie adaptation of Iron Man can not come soon enough. Channeling the same force that Johnny Depp used in Pirates of the Caribbean, Robert Downey Jr has taken one of Marvels big characters with a moderate appeal and transformed it into an astonishing portrayal of a man who is bigger than life. The tone of this movie is spot on.

The Comic-con footage had Downey in his role as Industrialist Tony Stark deliver a level of charisma that would make Bill Clinton his bitch. He is akin to a an electric panty shark that uses seductive speech in instead of venom to get his prey.

The following quote is already classic.

 “They say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far."

Although I own many runs of iron man comics I never really understood the character until now.

This movie could only come from the greatest country in the world. The hero’s path towards redemption and self respect will be amazing to watch.

Battlestar Galactica panel.

There wasn’t much news from the front. We did get to see a trailer for the movie Razor that used rock band Muse’s Map of the Problematique. Damn it was epic, cool and appropriate. Fear and Panic in the air after your civilization has been blown to shit. Oh hell yeah. 

Lucy Lawless will come back for a few episodes somewhere in the middle of the season.

They also mentioned that Apollo will be in a weird place at the end of the series in regards to the storyline.

Ron Moore mentioned that Laura Roslin’s cancer reignition was also important to the story because it brought us back to who she was at the beginning.

Beowulf

It is a classic movie

There are two sides to the execution this movie.

1.    Damn you Mo-cap CGI

2.    3-D Angelina Jolie J

I belong to the second camp.

Pathology 

This disturbed movie about amoral slasher doctors interned in the coroners program is designed to bring couples closer together. Nuff said.

Oh yeah this flick rocks some Alyssa milano action.

Resident Evil Extinction

Crazy post apocalyptic survival drama with zombies… mad max in what’s left of vegas.

Bionic Woman.

Well I saw the pilot. It is no galactica but it’s no slouch either. Michelle Ryan’s Jamie Sommers  is that chick who you hope exists but in real life is the bitch that wouldn’t likely use their strength in the way she does.

I have to give her credit. I did forget about that point 1/3 of the way through the episode.

It was entertaining and I am really looking forward to seeing the actor who played  Romo Lampkin the blind lawyer from Battlestar Galactica as the series’ main villain.

Heroes.

This show has some great potential and I recognize a few episodes as truly great. Luckily the series is going to begin focusing on fan favorite Hiro Nakamura’s character.

The master of disaster Kevin smith is also slated to direct an episode. That fat ass was everywhere by the way.

Ol Smith was a cameo character in Superman Doomsday  and he directed the pilot for the awesome reaper watch that show people … its an order.
